On the basis of the Hakka village cultural resource survey implemented in 2005, this sub-project utilizes global positioning technology to integrate survey data with geographic information (latitude and longitude) and provide multimedia data, such as photos, illustrations and audiovisuals, on the distribution of Taiwan’s main Hakka villages, making applications of cultural resources broader and closer to life.
The Hakka cultural resource survey comprises two parts: Hakka cultural resources and social investigation, in which Hakka cultural resources record things with Hakka features in households, including historic sites, architectures and villages, remains, cultural landscapes, traditional arts, folk custom relics, artifacts, and natural landscapes; whereas the social investigation is in the form of a questionnaire covering questions on Hakka family, family members, language, accent, frequency watching Hakka TV channels (broadcasts) and whether or not there were special arrangements at home to identify them as Hakka people.
The purpose of the survey is to accumulate and establish basic data on Hakka culture, hoping to arouse the collective memories of local residents, inspire care and passion for local culture and form a new Hakka culture movement. |
